We all slept in today and then my hubby and I went to grab
coffee. This is our weekend morning
routine, gives us some time to ourselves, kind of a nice way to start the day. We usually take our boxer with us – they give
him doggie treats at the coffee shop! Oh
and I only got a black coffee – nothing crazy.
It’s another beautiful day, 40 degrees this morning. When we got back from the coffee run – I went right out for
my workout (same as yesterday walk/jog intervals), before my buns could hit the
couch and get too comfortable. I opted for a pullover today rather than a
sweatshirt. The sweatshirt is really too
bulky for my iPhone armband and I was overly warm by the end of the workout
yesterday, today was perfect.
It was
great, I cut 2 minutes off of yesterday’s workout (might be due to the initial app technical
difficulties). My walk/jog pace was
about 15 minutes. I do think that the
Nike app is underestimating my calorie burn – the other apps show about 260
rather than 230 (I am going to go with the bigger number).
It’s great to have workout 2 done, and another 2 miles in the
books! Boy was I sore when I got up this morning, mostly the front of my legs and lower back. I looked up the right way to
run to be sure I don’t get any injuries (like shin splints, etc.), and here are
tips I found on SparkPeople:
- Hold head high and keep your back straight
- Focus gaze 30-40 yards ahead
- Relax jaw and neck
- Keep shoulders relaxed an parallel to ground
- Lightly cup hands as if you’re holding egg
- Keep wrists loose
- Bend elbows at 90 degree angle
- Allow arms to swing from shoulders
- Breathing relaxed and deep (breathe from belly)
So how did the eating go yesterday, you may wonder? My goal to lose 2 lbs. a week means I need
stay between 1200-1500 calories per day, I will also get to use the points
earned from working out if I want.
So yesterday I ate all but one calorie in my plan, HA! We’ll see how today goes, working out makes
me hungry!
Tracking is always what keeps me honest. If I don’t want to
log it – I don’t eat it (most of the time).
When I was tracking my breakfast this morning I was shocked at the
calories – I ate a YoCrunch Yopa Greek Yogurt (strawberry with granola) and the
little cup is 190 calories! Yikes. I can definitely see how I got to this weight
when I actually read labels, eye opening.
Wanted to let you know my weigh in day will be Friday of
each week. I am not going to post what I
weigh (more about that in a second), but I will post how much I lose or gain
each week. My goal is to eventually be
able to post my weight loss history including my beginning weight and my actual
goal weight. Right now, I am just
uncomfortable sharing because it is embarrassing for me. Seems kinda silly when I write about it,
because if you just look at me – you could probably guess and be within the
range, it just becomes more real in words, and I’m not there yet.
So now I need to find things to keep me busy and off the
couch. When I get home from work each
day, I usually cook dinner and help kiddos with homework, but after that it is
couch time. I’d like to find things to
do around the house and with my kids that occupy the time before bed. Maybe then I can avoid the Oreos and be more
successful. Christmas crafts maybe? I have a feeling Pinterest and I maybe become
besties. If you have any ideas to share
– please leave them in the comments.
We went Christmas tree hunting today and after 1-½ hours at the
Christmas tree farm, we found it! The tree is in the stand and filled with water, we will decorate tomorrow.
Happy Sunday I am off to watch the Walking Dead!
